Hello residents of Clyne and Melincourt
Our first charity fundraising event, Breast Cancer Now held on Friday 16th August was a resounding success, thanks to our amazing volunteers, those who funded the event, and those who gave their time on the day, also local businesses who supported us with fantastic donations, and of course our wonderful community who turned out in great numbers to help in raising £400 for this much needed cause!
We were also supported on the day with a visit from our local Cllr Leanne Jones and M.P. Carolyn Harris.
Heartfelt thanks to you all!!
This was followed by our 2nd Event, joining Ty Banc Canal Voluntary Group at Ty Banc Canal Festival on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th August. Thanks here to our volunteers who turned out to help make the fairground activities for this event and who helped set up for the festival. Friends of Clyne and Melincourt Voluntary Group certainly raised their profile at this free family fun day event, we had 2 stalls with interactive family activities, with jewellery making arts and crafts, cake decorating and of course our traditional fairground COCONUT SHY which was hand built and painted by our wonderful volunteers Stuart and Jeff. Again, we have had fantastic support from Cllr Leanne Jones and M.P. Carolyn Harris who attended the event and even won a coconut! (Thanks here also to L& J grocers Resolven, who kindly donated 2 sacks of coconuts!)
We are a new inclusive volunteer group who hope to enable people to offer their skills and time to build a stronger community and bring people from Clyne and Melincourt together.
We are currently recruiting for volunteers, so if you a little time to spare as little or as much as you can give will be appreciated, you can apply by clicking the link tab.Volunteer with us

Great news!
We have just had our afternoon tea at Clyne community hall on 1st November was a great success, bringing the community together and providing them with the food for free thanks to the everyone deserves fund from MP Carolyn Harris, it was great to see so many people chatting, having fun, joining in the raffle and checking our Christmas crafts, a big thank you to all our volunteers who helped on the day to make this possible. Don’t forget everyone we’re doing it again in the Ganu in Melincourt on 29th November, everyone is welcome.
